Apply nowI felt that it was an exciting opportunity to utilize my educational background in a different way than I had previously.
The training structure is different and unique from other training programs in which I have participated. Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) is a huge part of what sets it apart. It is an innovative and interactive way of approaching the training program. Probably the most unique aspect is the length of time—six to 12 months—before transitioning into the FSE role in the field and the support provided to the FST during that period. I believe that this contributes greatly to the successful transition from training to the actual job.
So many qualities define a successful candidate, but here are some that stand out: hardworking, open-minded, flexible, responsible and time-conscious. This is basically a training program that gives you the opportunity to discover the job’s intricacies and perks, which enables you to determine if it is the right fit for you. Working with a diverse team with so many ways to achieve one goal is fundamental to being successful.
At the moment, that would be installing an XN-1000 series at NASA. From offloading the equipment and connecting the parts to initializing and calibration, this was an incredible experience as it gave me a more well-rounded perspective on the functionality of the individual parts. The location was just an added bonus!
We were troubleshooting a DI-60 whose cassette holder was breaking slides. The arm kept vibrating and we used the TTSW to completely take off the arm to isolate the issue and put it back together. In other words, we found a better way—the Sysmex Way.
I hear only positive things! At the sites I have visited, the relationship between the customer and the service engineer (SE) is very pleasant and cordial. Every customer has a lot of trust in the SE and they do not hover or return every so often to check on your progress. This indicates trust and satisfaction in our level of service. The range of compliments we receive is extensive, expressing confidence in our products and confidence in the SE’s ability to get them back up and running ASAP.
Sysmex products are very reliable. The instruments are quite automated and repeat issues hardly occur after initial successful troubleshooting. They are the leading analyzer of choice in the industry, and this becomes quite obvious when the only time you get to go see most clients is to do proactive maintenance, which is about every six months!
The career advancement opportunities at Sysmex are very encouraging. As an FST, you get to travel quite a bit and gain exposure to many different situations during field training. And the range of departments from which you can learn and grow is very broad. The benefits are great, and the working relationships with coworkers encourage positive competition, which boosts your individual achievement and that of the whole team. Tuition reimbursement is also offered, for those who qualify. If you’re an entry-level professional seeking to advance into a science-related job, you’ll feels very little pressure, because they give you ample time to train and become familiar with the products. For a student who wants to excel in their field of study, and possibly progress in other departments, this is definitely the place to be.
