Apply nowWith no previous field service experience, I was seeking an opportunity to get my foot in the door in the field. The FST program allowed me to do so—and with an industry leader.
Being able to travel to different parts of the country and learn from different veteran service engineers and ride along with them is invaluable. And helping with projects and assisting different districts creates some amazing learning experiences.
It takes a person who is a quick learner, good listener, and has a “can-do” attitude. Flexibility is also key, because it is not a typical nine-to-five position where you’re working the same hours and reporting to the same location every day. You could be in one part of the country one week, and somewhere completely different the next.
My recent trip to Minnesota was the greatest learning experience I’ve had. Not only was I given the opportunity to learn from and ride along with a great mentor, but I also was able to travel to different sites on my own.
The field service engineers I’ve had as mentors went above and beyond on many occasions to provide excellent customer service. They also went out of their way to help their teammates not only within, but outside of their districts.
In my short amount of time with the company, I’ve already heard many good things from customers—especially regarding the newer instruments. They love how low-maintenance they are, how little down-time there is, and the quality results they get. I’ve also heard customers rave about the service they’ve gotten from not only field service engineers, but also from the Technical Assistance Center.
